Ayhan Sicimoglu
More than a percussionist, Ayhan Sicimoğlu is an educator, composer, and radio and tv programmer at the same time.
His first experience with percussion was during high school in the school band "Echo". In 1970 they won their first awards in the Milliyet High School Bands contest. Here, Sicimoğlu also received the "best drummer" award.
Over the course of his musical journeys to Latin America, Africa, Spain, USA, Italy, and England Sicimoglu discovered many musical genres, rhythms and instruments.
After his musical explorations he introduced his newly found beats, melodies and sounds to his band İstanbul Latin All Stars. Sicimoğlu and his band set out to tour their new sound before audiences all over the world since the band’s inception.
On his last recording, Ayhan Sicimoğlu Friends & Family, he collaborated with master musicians such as Colombian Rodrigo Rodriguez, Cuban trumpet player Amik Abdel Guerra Ling Long, Turkish jazz pianist Aydın Esen among a cast that includes over 20 others...
